Was booked already in a decent hotel.
Called Hotels.com to find me something else because the boss added one more person and the city was very booked already.
Could have stayed at the Tropicana in Las Vegas or the Golden Palm
Hotel for the same price. My booking was 1/2 that.
Anyway.. they told me the Golden Palm hotel was the best of the 3.
So I trusted them and went with that.

I arrived around 10:30 pm to find the Oldest and worst hotel in Las Vegas left standing.
No exaggeration.. blown out windows, smashed glass doors where patrons tried to break into the managers office, kicked in doors on the rooms and my door had been kicked in with safety latch kicked in and gone so i had no safety that night at all.
It's a known hooker/ druggy hotel.

With no place to go and being late at night.. I called hotels.com and pleaded with them to move me because I'm a single business woman
that didn't feel safe there.
They wanted to upcharge me for my safety even after they had moved me in the first place.
Since I answer to my boss. I couldn't pay $200 more for that night without asking.
So I stayed and planned to call hotels.com the next day.
Hotels. com did move me the next day but at no cost to them.

What happened was.. my window got smashed and they proceeded to
grab polo shirts from a clothes rack,, exposed my hidden laptop case
with my laptop, misc. items + my back up external hard drive
which only leaves my office when I do a driving trip.

I left diamonds, cash and the computer all hidden under a full mpv
and not visible to anyone..
And I only stayed at the hotel for 5 hours as i tried to stay away
as much as I could.. I did not want to be there.

So this cost me $500 to fix my auto glass, I posted a $5K reward IF
I ever see my hard drive again (can't replace some of the missing data
as it was original). + about $3K out of pocket to buy a new computer.
Not only that but now I'm facing identity theft as it had my personal
info, bus. info + job info in there.

The point is NOT the$ so much as ... I was in danger at this hotel,
they didn't care!!!
3 times they screwed me.
Once when taking my original booking away for their own commission
Twice when they let me stay at a room that wasn't safe
Three was when they charged me more to stay there.
After all this.. my co-worker walked right into the Tropicana and
booked a room for $15 less than I paid in advance.

These .com places do NOT check out these hotels.

Here's 1 last question for anyone who can help.
Since they have all these clauses of NON responsibility.
Do they have a responsibility to a customer that feels in danger
and calls to request HELP at 12pm at night?
They could have booked me in the Tropicana that night-- broke even
on cost for that one day... and saved me thousands of dollars.

What does anyone think about my chances with an Attorney?
I'm very angry. And I will at LEAST sue in small claims court if nothing
else comes up.. Just to get my say.. my day in court
If you will.

DO NOT book a hotel reservation with Hotels.com ever. We booked a king bed non-smoking for 8/7 thru 8/9 with Days Inn, el cajon, CA. but we ended up with a smoking room. Days Inn blamed my horrible experience on Hotels.com stating that Hotels.com are so desperate to book a reservation, they don't care what customers end up with.
